Sakowitz Furs is a luxury outerwear store based in Houston Texas specializing in the finest fur products and services. We maintain an exquisite collection of mink, sable, chinchilla, beaver, sheared mink, fox, Lynx and more. We also have a full-time service department to clean, store, repair, restyle and appraise your furs.

The Owner, Jerry Gronauer, began his career in the fur business at the young age of 16 as a stock clerk for the fur department of Gidding-Jenny in Cincinnati Ohio. From there he moved to Chicago to work for one of the biggest fur companies in the world, Evan’s Fur company. Evans transferred Mr. Gronauer to Houston Texas in 1976 to run their fur departments within the Sakowitz Department Stores. Mr. Gronauer Started his own business in 1986 and made a deal with Robert Sakowitz to take over the account from Evans. When the Sakowitz Department stores closed in the late 80’s, Jerry Gronauer purchased the name from Robert Sakowitz and reopened as Sakowitz Furs.

Sakowitz Furs is a family owned and operated company. Jerry Gronauer has been joined by his son, J.R. Gronauer. J.R. started working in the family business over summers and during winter breaks from Middle school through College. After Graduating from Baylor University in 2004, J.R. came to work full time. They now run the business together.
